What happened here

After bombing Tokyo on 18 April 1942, most of the sixteen B-25s of the Doolittle Raid ran out of fuel and their crews bailed out or crash-landed over Zhejiang and neighbouring Jiangxi, in eastern China. Chinese civilians and guerrillas hid most of the airmen and guided them to safety. In reprisal, the Japanese Zhejiang-Jiangxi campaign killed an estimated 250,000 Chinese civilians.
