What happened here

From October 1939 Kraków was the capital of the German General Government, ruled by Hans Frank from Wawel Castle. On 6 November 1939 the Germans arrested 183 professors of the Jagiellonian University. Jews were forced into a ghetto in Podgórze in March 1941, which was liquidated on 13 and 14 March 1943; survivors went to the Płaszów camp, and Oskar Schindler shielded more than a thousand at his enamel factory.
